Celebrating a Cherished HPS Journey:
Ms Swapna Surpaneni
The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, bid a warm and affectionate farewell to Ms Swapna Surpaneni on 29th August, 2026, as she completed her professional journey at the school and began a new chapter of her life.
Some associations with a school go beyond years of service. They become part of its memories, its people, and its story. Ms Swapna’s journey has been one such association. Over 10 years and 10 months at HPS Begumpet, she has been a dependable colleague, a dedicated educator, and a warm presence in the school community.
Her professional journey has been as varied as it has been meaningful. After completing her schooling at St. Ann’s High School, Secunderabad, and pursuing higher studies at Osmania University, she went on to complete her LLB, a Diploma in Mental Retardation from NIMH, and a Bachelor of Education from IGNOU. Her early professional years included more than seven years of working with children with intellectual disabilities, followed by a brief stint as an advocate. She eventually returned to education, a field that remained closest to her heart.
Before joining HPS Begumpet, Ms Swapna spent 17 years at Gitanjali Devshala. Her years in education have been marked by diligence, sincerity, and a willingness to support those around her. At HPS, her calm nature, dependable approach, and readiness to lend a helping hand earned her the affection and respect of her colleagues.
Her connection with HPS is also deeply personal. Ms Swapna has had the rare privilege of witnessing the school’s history from three different perspectives—as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations, as a parent during the 90th anniversary, and as a member of the HPS community during the centenary celebrations. This unique association has made her journey with the school especially meaningful.
Beyond her professional life, Ms Swapna has always found joy in music, reading, costume designing, gardening, travel, and photography—interests that have continued to enrich her life beyond the classroom and corridors of the school.
The farewell was made especially meaningful by the presence of Ms Swapna’s family, who joined the HPS community in celebrating her journey. Video messages and glimpses of cherished moments shared by her family added a warm and personal touch to the occasion, bringing to life the support and affection that have accompanied her through the years.
The school community also came together to share memories and tributes, celebrating the many years of association, friendship, and service that Ms Swapna leaves behind. A sapling and a silver salver were presented as tokens of appreciation, symbolising growth, gratitude, and the lasting contribution of a valued member of the HPS family.
As Ms Swapna looks forward to this next chapter, she hopes to spend more time with her family and friends, travel, and pursue the many interests that bring her joy.
While her daily presence in the corridors of HPS Begumpet will certainly be missed, the memories, friendships, and goodwill built over the years will remain. The school wishes Ms Swapna a fulfilling and happy new chapter, with many opportunities to enjoy the people and pursuits she holds dear.
