STRETCH-Leadership Camp
The Golden Boulder Campus
Stretching the leadership qualities of the newly elected leaders of Grade 5, The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, in collaboration with Worldview, organised the three-day Leadership program from June 27th to 29th, 2026.
The lush green Golden Boulder campus, Wanaparthi, Telangana is surrounded by rural life, green fields, lakes and ponds. The students got a taste of rural sports like kabaddi, kho-kho and seven stones. Apart from the physical benefits of these games, these games helped build teamwork and peer bonding. No expensive gear was required. The students learnt the importance of clear communication and cooperation to come out victorious.
After a day packed with high energy games the students had a delicious meal and slept in tents. Sharing tents, under the sky filled with stars brought out another aspect of true leaders- caring for and looking after the team.
Eager faces were met with a new challenge. Bushcraft .Polishing off healthy breakfast the students moved into the fields and wilderness to get a first hand experience of surviving with basics. Building fire, cooking with bare minimum ingredients was a unique experience. Learning resource management and collaboration.
Enjoying a simple and healthy meal and getting ready for yet another adventure was the next thing on the platter. Rafting-the test of a team’s resilience. Without a nail or a screw the students learnt how to build a raft. The teams organized their material efficiently, learnt about various knots and techniques that help build the structure of a raft and keep it floating. An activity that taught that following instructions and working in one direction was as important as giving instructions.The hard work paid in the form of rafts that they built and rafted in them. A sight of pure joy.
A much deserved rest. The newly elected student leaders slept with a smile looking forward to what was to follow the next morning.
Hiking. Carrying minimal gear the students scrambled, navigating through boulders, hiking and rock climbing. Moving through uneven terrain, stepping over creepers and balancing on rocks. This taught the students responsibility. Responsible for one’s safety and safety of the team. Overcoming obstacles, climbing up through narrow spaces and rocks all around to reach the top of a 12th century artillery fort. The leaders overcame fear and at the end they were more self confident.
The students returned after a three day camp powered with tools of confidence, team work and a zeal to impart to peers what they had learned.
