Educational Field Trip Report – IICT Visit
Educational Field Trip Report – IICT Visit
Cambridge students of Grades 10, 11, and 12 of the Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, visited the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT), Tarnaka, on Wednesday, 15th April 2026. The visit provided valuable exposure to advanced research and modern laboratory practices.
Students were introduced to sophisticated instruments such as spectroscopy techniques and autoclaves. A key highlight was the NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) instrument, where they learned how molecular structures can be determined without destroying the sample. They also explored biogas production through anaerobic respiration and understood the importance of bio hydrogen as a cleaner fuel alternative. The use of pheromones in pest control at the Center for Semiochemicals showcased eco-friendly approaches over chemical pesticides.
The role of autoclaves in sterilization, especially in medical applications like cancer treatment, was demonstrated. Students also attended an auditorium session featuring various research programs conducted at IICT under the CSIR.
The visit helped students understand interdisciplinary research across various fields and highlighted the importance of research and development in real-world applications. It also provided valuable insights into industrial operations, cost management, resource utilization, and production processes.
Overall, the visit was highly enriching, enhancing conceptual understanding, scientific thinking, and fostering a research-oriented mindset.
Thank you.
