REPORT ON MEDICAL CAMP CONDUCTED BY KIMS GACHIBOWLI
On a warm Saturday afternoon on 13th sept, Shaheen was abuzz with a full house of teachers, support staff attending an orientation conducted by renowned Oncologists from KIMS Gachibowli who spoke about Overall Health Management with a special focus on Cancer Prevention and Early detection. It was a very informative session where Dr Bhavya, spoke about how to identify changes in the size and texture of the breast, discharge from the nippular area, how to do a Self Breast examination and why it is so important. Dr Laxma Reddy also spoke about certain cancers in men and what are the warning signs one must watch out for.
Dr Pavan, drew a lot of laughs from the audience when he humorously dealt with a serious subject like cancer and successfully drove the point home. Dr Prabjot who is a reconstructive Oncologist, spoke about how different parts of the body become his tools in reconstruction of the cancer affected body parts and help patients cope with the loss and gain their self confidence back. This orientation was followed by one-on-one consultations with the doctors where a lot of our staff were able to share their health concerns.
Subsequently on 15th and 16th Sept, the doctors at KIMS took their commitment to the health of HPS Staff, one notch higher by conducting a medical camp on campus, where they brought in a state-of-the art Cancer screening bus and highly trained staff to conduct free mammograms, pap smears, Bone density tests and a basic health check up. It was very heartening to see the doctors and the team working tirelessly, seeing and speaking to our teachers and advising them on how best to take care of their health with specific insights and after 2 days, the KIMS team successfully conducted 60+ Mammograms, 80+ Pap smears and 180+ Bone density tests.
We at HPS would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire team of KIMS for this wonderful effort and initiative and hope that this association with them continues in the interest of the health of our dear teachers and staff.
