A Day at Do science
Experiential Learning at Do Science-An Educational Visit for Classes VI and VII
The middle school students of Classes VI and VII of our school participated in an educational visit to Do Science on Saturday, 31 January 2026, at Sanjeevaiah Park. The visit was organised to provide experiential learning through hands-on scientific activities. A total of 38 students, accompanied by Mrs. Lathasree Perwala and Mr. Bharath from the Physics Department, took part in this enriching outing.
The students were excited and highly enthusiastic as they engaged in various interactive exhibits that brought scientific concepts to life. The visit offered a perfect blend of learning and enjoyment, leaving the students curious and motivated.
Class VI students explored fundamental physics concepts through practical activities. They actively experimented with three types of levers and were able to clearly distinguish their functions. Using their own body weight, they experienced the operation of a pulley system, which helped them understand mechanical advantage. The students were also fascinated by the formation of multiple images in a pair of mirrors, which enhanced their understanding of reflection in mirrors.
Class VII students observed the propagation and reflection of sound using long pipes and gained insight into how sound travels. They produced sounds using different types of drums and compared variations in loudness. The students also experienced the conversion of potential energy into kinetic energy by experimenting with tracks of varying slopes, reinforcing their theoretical knowledge through hands-on learning.
In addition, all students enjoyed jumping on the trampoline, which helped them understand action and reaction forces. They also pedalled bicycles that demonstrated the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy, making the concept of energy transformation engaging and memorable. The optical illusion exhibits were particularly captivating and left the students ama
The educational visit to Do Science proved to be a highly informative, engaging, and memorable experience for the students. It successfully strengthened their conceptual understanding through experiential learning and fostered a deeper interest in science beyond the classroom.
