AFS National Meet: Bridging Cultures – Building Futures

On 20 November 2025,a delegation comprising four student delegates, Amolika Kaushal of  Grade 11A, Aliyah Singh, Greva Agarwal and Aparajita Singh of Grade 9, Cambridge and the School AFS Coordinator, Ms. Amita Chandran.K, represented the school at the AFS India Member Schools 7th National Meet, a four-day residential programme hosted by The Manik Public School, Manik Nagar, Bidar from 20- 23 November 2025. 

Theme

The theme of the meet ‘Bridging Cultures – Building Futures’, brought together representatives from 68 schools across India, including more than 43 school heads, 64 AFS coordinators and educators, and over 250 students. The programme focused on intercultural dialogue, collaboration and collective learning in alignment with the AFS mission of developing global citizens equipped to contribute to sustainable development and global harmony.

Key Aspects

The delegation participated in a rich mosaic of activities designed to nurture intercultural competence and global citizenship. The event commenced on 20 November 2025 with arrival formalities, followed by a visit to the Manik Prabhu Temple and an enchanting cultural evening featuring a Dandiya performance by local communities as well as the delegates. Dinner was served traditionally on plantain leaves with Vedic chanting.

The formal inauguration, titled “Shubharambh”, included lamp lighting and Saraswati Vandana. It was addressed by His Holiness Shri Dynanraj Manik Prabhu Maharaj Ji. Ms Diya Badgel, National Director-AFS India, elaborated on the organisation’s objectives. A virtual address was delivered by Mr Daniel Obst, President and CEO, AFS International. Keynote speeches were given by Shri Mahesh Murlidhar Bhagwat IPS, Additional Director General of Police, Telangana State, and Mr Prasanna Sant, multilingual sports broadcaster. 

The day comprised cultural performances, regional AFS reports, poster presentations, a tableau walk, international student sharing sessions, a visit to the Gau Shala, and the “Prakashanjali” light-and-sound presentation. The student programme concluded with a DJ evening.

On 22 November 2025, delegates visited the Bidar Fort, offered voluntary service at the Gurudwara through Karsewa, and partook in the community Langar. A tour of the host school’s orchard was followed by “Khel Gully”, an activity centred on traditional Indian games.

The final day, 23 November 2025, began with a reflective session which enabled participants to share insights gained during the Meet. The closing ceremony, “Abharanjali”, featured an address by Shri Anandraj Manik Prabhu and the distribution of participation certificates.

The 7th AFS National Meet provided a structured platform for the development of intercultural competence and global citizenship among participants. The delegation returned with enhanced understanding of diverse cultural perspectives and a reinforced commitment to the values of empathy, collaboration and global responsibility.
