The Article Review Competition

The article review competition held by the commerce department this week brought together students studying Business, Economics and Accounting at a higher level to showcase their analytical and presentational skills in front of an audience.

Students from grades 9 to 12 were assigned a variety of thought-provoking articles to choose from. The aim of this competition wasn’t to summarise or explain these articles in detail; but to draw out genuine issues faced by enterprises in this industry and draw out real world connections, whilst providing their own perspectives simultaneously.

One of the most discussed pieces being “Mental health isn’t an HR problem, but a business risk”, in which students discussed the impact of mental health, from not only a wellbeing perspective, but the productivity and output of the business collectively too.

Transcending into how companies should set more sustainable, environment friendly goals for the future. This was tackled in “Sustainability as a business model transformation”. Eye opening for audience and judges alike, it expanded horizons for questioning towards clothing industries and fast fashion brands.

“Beeing Better at Bombas” was another article that explored other zero-waste policies further and examined the brands approach to letting constructive criticism pave the way for their business model. If that wasn’t enough, these young minds concluded with representing technological frontiers through “Machinery meets AI”. Breaking down how the integration of AI in technological industries like the motor industry helps address safety concerns whilst being efficient and less time-consuming utilising fusion strategies.

Such competitions don’t just drive students to work hard, but prepare them for professional challenges they might face in the future.
