Purpose of the Visit
The objective of the visit to the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Hyderabad was to provide students of The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet with meaningful exposure to the hospitality and hotel management industry. The aim was to bridge theoretical concepts with real-world applications and help students gain insights into career opportunities, academic pathways, and professional environments within the hospitality sector.

Activities and Highlights
Welcome Session
The visit began with a warm welcome by the IHM team. Mr. Puneet Razdan conducted a brief introductory session outlining the institute’s history, vision, and educational programs.
Campus Tour
Students were taken on a guided tour of the campus, which included visits to:
- Training kitchens and bakery units
- Front office laboratories
- Housekeeping demonstration rooms
- The training restaurant
This provided firsthand exposure to the infrastructure and resources available for hospitality training.
Interactive Sessions
Students engaged in multiple interactive sessions:
- Orientation on hotel management courses by IHM faculty
- A session on career paths in hospitality
- Soft skills in hospitality led by Ms. Sarla (HoD, F&B)
- A Q&A session where students interacted with IHM instructors and students
Live Demonstrations
Students observed:
- Culinary practices in 8 professional kitchens
- Housekeeping techniques, including flower arrangements and cleaning agents
- Some HPS students actively participated in these live sessions, gaining practical exposure
Alumni Interaction – 2005 Batch
Coinciding with the IHM 2005 alumni meet, HPS students had the opportunity to:
- Interact with distinguished alumni from diverse hospitality domains like luxury hotels, aviation, cruise lines, and entrepreneurship
- Hear about their career journeys, challenges, and the evolving role of technology in hospitality
- Gain insights into industry trends and personal success stories
High Tea Experience
A professional high tea was arranged by IHM for the visitors:
- Students observed table setup, service etiquette, and food presentation
- This live experience reinforced classroom learning on hospitality and guest experience
