About The Margin

A fortnightly magazine of opinion, reporting, and verse — written entirely by students.

The best conversations at school rarely make it onto paper. They happen between classes, free periods, during lunch, strong opinions, half-formed arguments, the thing you wish you’d said. We started The Margin to give those a place to live, and to find out what students actually think when they’re given room to say it properly.

Every piece here is written by a student. We publish opinion and reporting across the subjects students genuinely argue about: money, science, sport, food, the things we watch and read, alongside a section for poems and short stories. We’re not aiming to be neutral. A good piece takes a position and makes you want to argue back.

A new issue arrives every second week. It’s free to read, with nothing to sign up for — open it on your phone in the pick-up line, or read it over breakfast. If it makes you think, or disagree, or pass it to a friend, it’s done its job.
